StorkCraft cribs and all their baby furniture products undergo product usability and safety testing and meet or exceed U.S. and Canadian and international regulatory standards. All baby cribs|cots must meet current federal and ASTM standards, see JPMA website at www.jpma.org A safe crib will have as a basic requirement, tight fitting mattress, no missing hardware or slats, no cut outs in the head and|or foot boards. Corner posts should not be higher than 1/16" and slats should be no more than 2 3/8" apart. If not using a convertible, it should be kept in mind that a baby crib will be no longer suitable for your loved one when baby can sit or pull themselves up. After 6 months baby should be moved from the crib to a cot. Some safety tips to be aware of in your nursery: 1. Never use pillows, duvets, comforters, toys or other loose material in a baby crib or moses basket. 2. Ensure that a firm baby mattress fits the crib perfectly. 3. Use a crib sheet that fits securely around the corners. 4. Do not use Polyester blankets if nursery is too hot. 5. Use Acrylic cellular blankets in a cold room. 6. Sheets and blankets should be the correct size as there could be dangers with a wrigley baby. 7. In a room heated to 75C only a single top sheet is needed, any drop in temperature, a blanket is required. 8. Do not overdress your baby boy or baby girl in the crib. 9. Strictly follow manufacturer's instructions. 10.  Excess crib bedding creates overheating for a baby and can cause the death of a healthy infant. 11. Keep crib well clear of window cords and furniture. 12.  Research indicates that a baby put to sleep on its tummy is at greater risk of cot death.  An absolute no no is an adult sharing a bed with an infant.
