Chemicals Warning.   Traces of chemical known as phthalates have been found in elevated levels of baby's urine. Those babies had been shampooed, lotioned or powdered. There is a possible link between these chemicals and the reproductive system.

Dangerous Toy Crackdown  A dangerous toy crackdown is imminent as both houses of the U.S.Congress are likely to pass leglislation outlawing all forms of unsafe toys.  Keep abreast of developments.

California 1st  State to pass a law banning the use of  Phthalates (pronounced THA-lates) in children's products. It consists of chemical compounds added to plastics to increase their softness and flexibility, etc. Phthalates can be found in baby toys such as teething rings, bath books, rubber ducks, etc.so check out your soft vinyl baby products.

Graco announced on 19th Nov that they are recalling 300,000 Snug-Ride car seats manufactured between August 2006 & June 2007. This does not apply to Snug-Ride models used as travel systems or made before August 2006.

Child Car Seat Sensor Alarm   Davdon Enterprises have announced that they have developed a pressure mounted sensor alarm for car seats which will never allow a parent to forget their child in the rear of the car. California  Legislation banning the sale of toys and baby products that contain the potentially dangerous chemical phthalates, has been made law.  Other States may follow suit.

Warning: The Journal of Pediatrics claim that most if not all crib bumper pads for babies & children are unsafe and can be lethal.  Over a period of 20 years to 2005, it has been reported that there were 27 accidental deaths related to poorly fitted bumper pads or unsafe cribs and bedding materials. Investigation into the deaths showed that the children probably suffocated once caught between the bumper and the crib frame, or that they were strangled by a crib bumper attachment. Authorities examined the deaths and injuries of children from 1 month old through 2 years.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, has announced a voluntary recall of the "Moderne" and "Loft" Cribs.  Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Canada:      New Booster Car Seat Laws come into effect on 1st July, 2008.

Australia:    In some 75 per cent of cases, inappropriate restraints were used and two out of three child car seats were    incorrectly fitted or fastened. 

Oregon:      The state Senate voted Monday to enact stricter safety regulations for infants and children riding in motor vehicles.

Baltimore:    About 180 Sleigh Round Cribs have been recalled because the cribs' instructions tell consumers to assemble the crib with the mattress support in the highest position and do not indicate that it can be moved to a lower setting.
